Course: Supporting Families Through Loss – Live Interactive Training Format: Live, 2.5-hour virtual or in person training Compassionate Support Through Loss is a foundational training for doulas and birth workers to feel prepared and confident in guiding clients through pregnancy loss, infant loss, and the complex emotions of life after loss. For doulas, loss is an inevitable and challenging part of your work. This training provides a solid basic introductory foundation in loss-informed care, equipping you with the compassion, presence, and knowledge needed to provide services grieving families—ensuring you feel confident in supporting families. What You’ll Learn: - Define pregnancy & infant loss and why each experience is unique. - Understanding what families may experience throughout the process. - Recognize the emotional, physical and informational needs of grieving families. - Identify the 5 Pillars of Loss Support including Holding Space & Listening, Being There to Help Navigate, Nurturing & Caring for the Family, Honoring Grief & Creating Rituals, Providing Resources & Information. - Apply effective communication strategies to engage with families. - Recognize the importance of postpartum support after loss. - Develop self care strategies and identify personal circles to sustain your work. Participants will practice in breakout groups, be able to ask real-time Q&A, and learn communication tips to feel confident supporting clients through loss. This essential training empowers doulas to provide meaningful, empathetic support for families navigating loss. Participants will have a deep awareness of grief, practical skills, and the confidence to guide families with care, understanding, and compassionate presence. 2.5 CEU hrs approved by OHA Additional Costs + $75 for each additional participant over 6 + $150 for In Person locally (within 30 miles of Salem, OR or additional cost for extended travel)
